Hannaford Helps Reusable Bag Program
With the Hannaford Helps Reusable Bag Program, there are two different types of reusable bags sold. Every reusable Community Bag with the attached Giving Tag sold provides a $1 donation to a non-profit local to the store in which it was purchased. Every reusable Fight Hunger Bag with the attached Giving Tag sold provides a $1 donation to a hunger organization local to the store in which it was purchased.

What is Bags 4 My Cause?
Bags 4 My Cause is a program in which every reusable bag sold provides a $1 donation to a non-profit local to the store in which it was purchased. Our team partners with yours to implement this program in your store locations, with little-to-no touch needed on your part.
How do you calculate the amount of meals donated?
We work with local food pantries and food banks across the country to provide nourishing meals to those in need. According to Feeding America, every $1 donation allows partners to secure and distribute 10 meals to those in need. To learn more, read this article by Feeding America.
How do you calculate the number of single-use bags not used?
We estimate that one purchased reusable bag will be used at least six times per year. We also estimate that each time a reusable bag is used it equates to five single-use bags that are not used. This means that for every reusable bag that is sold, 30 single-use bags are not used. We are confident in this assessment, as it is a very conservative estimate compared to other findings.

No. There is no limit to the amount of donations a non-profit can raise from the Bags 4 My Cause Program.
How are non-profits selected?
Non-profits are selected by each participating store location on a monthly basis. The benefiting non-profit of the month is notified of their selection in the program about one month prior to their selection start date. Our team handles all non-profit communication, and provides marketing materials to make it as easy as possible for non-profits to spread the word.
